How to Make Your Perfume Last All Day

Most fragrance complaints come down to the same handful of habits. None of these require a different perfume — just a tweak to how you wear what you already love.

Apply to moisturised skin

Dry skin is a sponge. An unscented body lotion or oil applied minutes before perfume creates the friction layer that traps oils against your skin.

Hit your pulse points — the warm ones

Inner wrists, base of the throat, behind the ears. Body heat lifts the scent up off the skin throughout the day.

Don't rub

Rubbing the wrists together breaks down the top notes prematurely. Spray, then let it air-dry.

Spray a little on your hair (carefully)

Hair holds fragrance longer than skin, but alcohol dries it out. Spray the inside of a hairbrush and run it through your hair instead.

Layer the same scent

If your fragrance comes with a body wash or lotion in the same scent family, use them. The compound effect is more than additive.

Store it right

Sunlight and heat kill perfume formulas slowly. Keep your bottles in a closed drawer, not on a sunny windowsill.
